Overview
Impala Platinum Mine is recruiting a permanent Welder for its construction team. The Welder will perform on-site fabrication, maintenance welding and assist on construction projects. Minimum 1 year welding experience required.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding (SMAW, MIG, TIG as required) and cutting on steel structures and piping
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
- Prepare, align and assemble components for welding
- Inspect welds for quality and perform weld repairs
- Operate grinders, cutting torches and related tools safely
- Maintain tools and equipment and report defects
- Follow site safety procedures and participate in toolbox talks
- Work shifts and travel to site areas as required and assist other trades as needed
- Minimum 1 year hands-on welding experience in construction or industrial settings
- Proficient in SMAW, MIG and TIG techniques and welding quality standards
- Ability to read technical drawings and take measurements
- Knowledge of welding safety, PPE and confined space protocols
- Good hand-eye coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills
- Basic computer and communication skills
- Reliability
- Valid driver's license preferred
