Water Truck Driver

Role Overview:

The Water Truck Driver is responsible for the safe operation of tanker trucks, careful handling of potable water, professional customer interaction, and routine vehicle inspections to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate water tanker trucks (various capacities) safely and in compliance with traffic regulations.
• Load, transport, and deliver potable water to customer sites according to assigned schedules and delivery manifests.
• Ensure proper hookup, discharge, and metering of water; verify quantities delivered and obtain customer signatures or confirmations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report mechanical issues, leaks, or contamination risks to maintenance and supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness of tanker compartments and hoses to preserve water quality; follow company hygiene and safety procedures.
• Plan efficient delivery routes, manage time to meet delivery windows, and coordinate with dispatch.
• Follow safety and company operating procedures; assist with on-site manual tasks such as connecting hoses and securing couplings when required.

Job Specification: Must-have:

• Valid commercial driver's license appropriate for heavy trucks and a clean driving record.
• Minimum 2 years' experience operating large tanker or heavy-duty trucks in urban delivery or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, defensive driving, and load securement.
• Experience handling potable water systems, tanker sanitation, and contamination-avoidance procedures.
• Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and identify mechanical, hydraulic, or sealing issues.
• Basic route planning, time management, and familiarity with Addis Ababa road network and delivery logistics.
• Physical fitness to handle hoses, couplings, and occasional manual work.

Preferred:

• Completion of commercial driver training or relevant vocational course.
• Prior experience with water/tanker deliveries.
