Technical Lead

Location: Somerset West, Helderberg Area, Cape Town

Salary: R80 000 to R90 000 per month (no benefits)

Purpose of Job

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Lead responsible for coding, system architecture, and mentoring the development team. The role focuses on delivering scalable SaaS solutions, maintaining high code quality, and enabling efficient development processes. The Technical Lead will work on full-stack systems, guide architecture and implementation decisions, run code reviews, and support developer growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of SaaS systems and microservices.
• Architect and develop APIs and database schemas (SQL & NoSQL).
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Promote DevOps practices, containerization (Docker), and cloud-native deployments on AWS.
• Conduct code reviews, establish coding standards, and mentor developers.
• Balance hands-on development with technical leadership duties.

• 7+ years software development experience with 2+ years in a technical leadership role
• Proven experience with PHP and NodeJS
• Experience designing SaaS architectures and microservices
• Strong AWS cloud platform experience
• Database design and API development (SQL & NoSQL)
• DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code
• Containerization (Docker)

Preferred

• Experience with front-end frameworks: React, Vue.js, or Angular
• Experience mentoring developers and running code reviews
