Overview:
Work as part of disciplined teams to support production targets while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards. Operate and maintain underground mining equipment, execute development and production headings, perform inspections and preventive maintenance, and follow mine safety systems and emergency response protocols.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate underground mobile equipment (LHDs, jumbo drills, bolters, diesel/battery-powered loaders).
- Execute drilling, blasting, scaling, mucking to meet production plans.
- Install ground support (rock bolts, mesh, shotcrete) and apply roof control techniques.
- Monitor ventilation, gas levels, confined-space safety and follow emergency procedures.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance; report defects.
- Read basic engineering drawings, production plans and shift reports; coordinate with supervisors and trades.
- Follow safety reporting, hazard identification and permit-to-work systems.
- Proven experience in underground mining operations (development and stoping).
- Competent operation of LHDs, jumbo drills, bolters and diesel/battery-powered loaders.
- Knowledge of blasting procedures, drill pattern layout and mucking routines.
- Familiarity with ground support installation (rock bolts, mesh, shotcrete) and roof control techniques.
- Understanding of mine ventilation principles, gas monitoring and confined-space safety.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings, production plans and shift reports.
- Experience with safety reporting, hazard identification and permit-to-work systems.
- Physical fitness for demanding underground conditions and flexibility for rostered/extended shifts.
- Good communication and teamwork to coordinate with supervisors, artisans and support services.
