- Organisation: A.R. Nutrition Food, Karachi-based nonprofit focused on nutrition-centered mental health care.
- Role overview: Lead design of client-facing digital tools, program materials, and community outreach assets to make nutrition and mental health guidance accessible, culturally relevant, and easy to use.
- Key responsibilities:
- Lead user research and needs assessment with program participants, counselors, and field staff in Karachi to define product requirements.
- Create user journeys, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for mobile and web interfaces used by beneficiaries and staff.
- Design clear, culturally appropriate visual assets for therapeutic meal programs, counseling referrals, and community kitchen materials.
- Work with program managers and developers to iterate on prototypes, perform usability testing, and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Establish and maintain a design system, including UI components, typography, and accessibility guidelines for low-literacy audiences.
- Plan and moderate usability testing sessions, analyze results, and translate findings into actionable changes.
- Document design rationale and hand off assets to developers and external vendors.
- Consider accessibility, responsive interfaces, low-bandwidth and low-end device constraints in designs.
- Experience: 3 years practical experience in product or interaction design.
- User research: Conducting research, synthesizing findings into personas, user journeys, and feature priorities.
- Prototyping: Wireframes to high-fidelity; tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Visual design: Layout, typography, iconography, color systems for diverse, low-literacy audiences.
- Design systems: Create and maintain reusable component libraries for web, mobile, print.
- Usability testing: Plan, moderate, analyze sessions and iterate designs.
- Accessibility & responsive design: Experience designing for low-bandwidth and low-end devices.
- Collaboration: Work with program staff, developers, and external vendors; document and hand off assets.
