Operations Manager

Job Description: Kadwa Inc. ZA is recruiting an Operations Manager to support mining and industrial operations across Johannesburg and Southern Africa.

Overview:

• Drive operational performance for opencast and underground mining sites.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain HSE standards.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to meet production, safety, and quality targets.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day mining operations, coordinate production planning, resource allocation, and shift handovers to meet schedules.
• Implement and maintain HSE standards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with South African mining regulations.
• Supervise and mentor supervisors, engineers, and frontline crews; promote continuous improvement and operational discipline.
• Manage equipment utilization and maintenance planning with maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
• Monitor KPIs, prepare operational reports, and implement corrective actions to optimize throughput and control costs.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and supply chain stakeholders.

Job Specification: Must-have:

• Proven experience managing opencast or underground mining operations with demonstrable production results.
• Strong knowledge of South African mining legislation, mine safety protocols, and HSE management systems.
• Operational planning: production scheduling, resource allocation, and shift management.
• Experience with maintenance planning and mining equipment lifecycle/utilization metrics.
• Ability to analyze KPI data, generate actionable insights, and deliver process improvements.
• Leadership and people management: coaching supervisors and managing multidisciplinary site teams.
• Stakeholder coordination with procurement, logistics, engineering, and regulatory bodies.
• Good written and verbal communication for operational reporting and safety briefings.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mining Technology, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent technical diploma plus significant downstream operational experience.
• Relevant safety or management certifications (e.g., SAMTRAC, First Aid).
