Overview:

Kadwa Inc. ZA is recruiting experienced open-cast miners for Johannesburg operations. The role supports surface mining teams in open-pit environments to meet daily production targets while complying with site safety and environmental standards.

Core Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain open-cast mining equipment (dozers, loaders, hydraulic excavators, rigid haul trucks) following operational procedures.
• Load, transport and dump mineral material safely and efficiently to designated stockpiles or processing areas.
• Perform pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks; report mechanical issues and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Follow blasting and excavation plans, maintain bench integrity, and support grade control requirements.
• Adhere to site safety systems, permit-to-work processes, and environmental controls; participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Record daily production data, complete shift handover documentation, and communicate equipment issues to maintenance.
• Comply with traffic management and blasting exclusion zones; assist with basic troubleshooting and site housekeeping.

Job Specification:

• Proven experience operating heavy mining machinery in open-cast/surface mining (dozers, loaders, hydraulic excavators, rigid haul trucks).
• Knowledge of load-and-haul cycles, bench preparation, and basic grade control.
• Understanding of mining safety legislation, site permit systems, hazard identification and mitigation.
• Competence in pre-start inspections, basic troubleshooting, and reporting equipment faults to maintenance teams.
• Ability to read basic site plans and follow blasting exclusion zones and traffic management procedures.
• Ability to complete production and safety documentation accurately and perform reliable shift handovers.
• Physical fitness for outdoor manual work; punctuality and ability to work rotational shifts and extended hours.
