Overview:

Kadwa Inc. ZA is recruiting experienced Mine Managers for open-cast and underground sites in Johannesburg. The Mine Manager will lead safe, productive, and cost-effective mining operations, ensuring regulatory and HSE compliance while driving operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead operational planning and execution for open-cast or underground mining, including short-term and long-term mine plans.
• Manage and mentor site supervisors, engineers, and frontline teams to maintain performance and a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with South African mining regulations, company HSE policies, and environmental requirements.
• Monitor production, costs, and equipment utilization; implement corrective actions to meet targets and control expenditure.
• Coordinate maintenance planning, contractor management, and procurement for critical mining equipment and materials.
• Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementation of preventive measures.
• Prepare operational reports and budget forecasts; provide regular updates to regional leadership.
• Drive productivity improvements through process optimization, technology adoption, and workforce development.

Job Specification:

• Minimum 8 years of progressive mining experience, including at least 3 years in a senior supervisory or managerial role
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
• Chartered status or equivalent preferred
• Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary teams in open-cast and/or underground environments
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, production scheduling, and resource optimization
• In-depth understanding of South African mining legislation, HSE standards, and environmental management practices
• Experience with fleet and equipment management, maintenance coordination, and contractor oversight
• Competence in budgeting, cost control, KPIs and performance monitoring
• Skilled in risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
• Effective communication and stakeholder management with regulators, communities, and senior management
• Familiarity with mining software (fleet management, mine planning systems) and Microsoft Office suite
