Mechanical Fitter

Role:

• Install, maintain and repair plant and mechanical equipment in a construction/mining environment.
• Install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment, conveyors, pumps and plant components.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Dismantle, inspect, align and reassemble machinery and rotating equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Use hand and power tools, lifting equipment and precision measuring instruments.
• Assist artisans and technicians during shutdowns and construction activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report faults.
• Comply with all safety, environmental and site procedures.

• Minimum 1 year mechanical fitting experience in industrial, construction or mining environments.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measuring tools.
• Basic welding and assembly skills; familiarity with rotating equipment.
• Physically fit and safety-focused.
• Valid driver's license (advantageous).

Preferred:

• Grade 12 or N3 certificate; Trade test or mechanical fitting apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience with trackless equipment is a plus.
• Basic computer skills advantageous.
