Mandarin Interpreter (Work From Home)

Responsible for handling telephone or video calls in consecutive interpretation between Mandarin and English speakers. Interpret conversations accurately and professionally, using appropriate industry terminology and procedures. Calls may cover Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation (telephone and video) between Mandarin and English.
• Process information quickly and concisely while recognizing cultural differences.
• Use and maintain knowledge of industry-specific terminology and procedures.
• Follow client-provided scripts and glossaries; participate in ongoing training.
• Complete written and audio language assessments as part of hiring and quality assurance.
• Work scheduled night shifts and remain available and stationary at a computer during shift.

• Native-level fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and understood).
• Advanced knowledge of cultural implications and idiomatic expressions in both languages.
• Thorough knowledge of medical and other industry terminology; ability to study glossaries and client training materials.
• Comfortable working remotely, using a computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse for the duration of scheduled shifts.
• Ability to pass written and audio language assessments.
• Minimum education: high school complete; Diploma/Degree preferred.

• Education in languages, translation/interpretation, or healthcare-related fields.
• Verifiable certificate from an approved medical interpreter certification provider.
