Overview:
Impala Platinum Mine is recruiting permanent Instrument Technicians to join the Construction team. The role supports plant installation, maintenance and commissioning of process instrumentation on mining and construction projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, commission and maintain process instruments (pressure, level, flow, temperature)
- Calibrate field transmitters, sensors and control loops
- Perform loop checks, signal testing and troubleshooting
- Read P&IDs, isometrics and wiring diagrams
- Assist with PLC/SCADA signal checks and handover
- Complete maintenance reports and adhere to safety procedures
- Support shutdowns and construction activities as required
- Grade 12 / N3 with Instrumentation or relevant trade certificate
- Minimum 1 year hands-on instrumentation experience
- Knowledge of calibration tools, transmitters, valves and junction boxes
- Able to read drawings and use test equipment (multimeter, calibrator)
- Basic PLC/SCADA awareness and electrical wiring skills
- Strong safety focus, teamwork and good communication
Preferred:
- Apprenticeship or trade test advantageous
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver's license
