Job Description: Kadwa Inc. ZA is expanding mining and industrial operations in Johannesburg and regional open-cast and underground sites. We are recruiting experienced Foremen to supervise day-to-day mining and production activities, ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards, and coordinate crews and contractors to meet production targets. The role reports to site management and works closely with planning, maintenance, and safety teams to maintain continuous, compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate work crews on shift to deliver daily production plans, assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide on-the-job coaching.
  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct pre-shift briefings, hazard identification, toolbox talks, and incident reporting to maintain a zero-harm culture.
  • Manage resources including equipment staging, materials handling, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with mining permits, environmental controls, and company procedures; liaise with engineering and maintenance to resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor quality and productivity using shift logs, production records, and KPIs; implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct incident investigations, perform risk assessments, and promote safety management systems.
  • Train, mentor, and assess crew competency; support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.
  • Prepare daily production reports, shift handovers, and maintain operational records.
Job Specification:
  • Minimum five years supervisory experience in open-cast or underground mining operations with production leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of mining methods, ground control, drilling/blasting basics, and equipment operations.
  • Proven ability to enforce safety management systems, conduct incident investigations, and perform risk assessments.
  • Competent in reading plans, daily production reporting, shift handover procedures, and operational record keeping.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating maintenance and liaising with engineering teams to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Effective communication and leadership to manage multicultural crews and contractors on site.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and assess crew competency; focus on continuous improvement.
  • Basic computer literacy for digital reporting; familiarity with electronic logbooks or fleet management systems advantageous.
