Overview:

Kadwa Inc. ZA is recruiting experienced Fitters & Turners to support mining and industrial operations in Johannesburg. Successful candidates will join maintenance teams responsible for ensuring equipment reliability across open-pit and underground sites. Work within a safety-first culture, collaborate with operations and engineering, and contribute to planned and reactive maintenance programs.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform fitting, turning, machining and assembly tasks on shafts, bearings, couplings and other rotating equipment using lathes, mills and hand tools.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, dismantling and reassembly of pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and mining plant components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications to carry out precision machining and part fabrication.
• Perform alignment, balancing and tolerance checks; record measurements and produce basic fitment reports.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults on mobile and fixed plant, recommend repairs or part replacements, and support shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Adhere to site safety procedures, participate in toolbox talks and use appropriate PPE.

Job Specification:

• Proven hands-on experience as a fitter & turner or mechanical machinist in mining, heavy industry or manufacturing environments.
• Competent with lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and GD&T tolerances.
• Skilled in shaft and bearing assembly, coupling installations, keyway cutting, reboring; awareness of welding practices for fabricated repairs.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, crushers, pumps, gearboxes and hydraulic systems.
• Strong fault-finding methodology and the ability to produce clear maintenance records and simple technical reports.
• Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined space awareness and mine-site safety protocols.
• Good physical fitness; ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and on rotation/shift schedules; willingness to travel.
