Dump Truck Operator

Overview:

• Recruiting experienced dump truck operators for large-scale open-cast and underground mining operations.
• Work within a safety-first operations team supporting material movement, site logistics, and daily production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maneuver haul trucks and articulated dump trucks safely in open-cast and underground environments, following site procedures and traffic management plans.
• Conduct pre-start, daily and post-shift vehicle inspections; report defects and ensure routine maintenance checks are completed.
• Load and unload materials efficiently, observing weight limits, load distribution and securement practices.
• Coordinate with loaders, supervisors and dispatch to maintain continuous haulage cycles and meet production schedules.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and complete required safety, maintenance and shift paperwork.
• Follow mining safety practices including PPE use, permit-to-work and risk assessment procedures.

Job Specification:

• Proven experience operating heavy haul/dump trucks in mining or quarry environments, including articulated and rigid-frame trucks.
• Valid heavy vehicle driving licence appropriate for haul truck operation and required site vehicle permits (South Africa).
• Knowledge of safe vehicle operation on rough terrain, ramp protocols and load management principles.
• Competence in performing pre-start inspections, identifying mechanical issues and reporting maintenance needs.
• Ability to read and follow dispatch instructions, site maps and work orders; communicate with loaders and supervisors.
• Familiarity with mining safety practices: PPE, traffic management, permit-to-work and risk assessment.
• Physical fitness for manual checks, frequent cab entry/exit and working in variable weather and site conditions.
• Dependability and punctuality; strong safety culture and demonstrated incident-free driving record where possible.
