Boilermaker

Job Description: Company/Location: Impala Platinum Mine, Rustenburg

Role Overview:
Join the site team as a permanent Boilermaker working in a busy mining and construction environment to fabricate, install and maintain steel structures and pressure equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricate, assemble, install and repair boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, ducting and structural steel.
• Cut, shape and weld steel components to specifications using drawings and templates.
• Perform alignment, fitting, riveting, grinding and finishing tasks.
• Conduct inspections, pressure tests and basic non-destructive checks; report defects.
• Carry out planned maintenance and emergency repairs to plant and infrastructure.
• Maintain safe work practices, adhere to site HSE procedures and use PPE.
• Operate hand and portable power tools; work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
• Complete documentation, timesheets and job reports; liaise with supervisors and team members.

Job Specification: Must-have:

• Minimum 1 year hands-on boilermaker experience in construction or mining environments.
• Proficient in welding and cutting techniques (SMAW/MIG/TIG/oxy-fuel as applicable).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Strong fitting, grinding and metal fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of pressure testing, rigging and basic lifting procedures.
• Commitment to safety and ability to follow site HSE policies.

Advantageous / Preferred:

• Boilermaker trade certificate or apprenticeship preferred; trade test advantageous.
• Valid driver's license.
• Basic computer literacy.
