Role overview:

Kadwa Inc. is recruiting experienced artisans to support open-cast and underground mining operations. Successful candidates will work within multidisciplinary maintenance and operations teams to ensure safe, reliable plant and equipment performance across production, processing, and support facilities. The role is hands-on, safety-focused, and offers opportunities for technical development and career progression.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mining machinery, conveyors, crushers, pumps, electrical switchgear, and related equipment according to scheduled plans and work orders.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults using instrumentation, test equipment and schematic drawings; implement repairs and replace defective components to restore equipment to service.
• Carry out installations and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems following engineering specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and time/work permits; report recurring issues and suggest reliability improvements.

Job Specification:

• Trade competency: Mechanical fitter, electrician, millwright, instrumentation or diesel mechanic with significant mining or heavy industry experience.
• Diagnostic tools: Multimeters, meggers, hydraulic/pneumatic testing tools, mechanical measuring instruments.
• Technical reading: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs and maintenance manuals.
• CMMS: Experience with scheduled maintenance systems and accurate work order/parts logging.
• Mechanical skills: Rotating equipment alignment, bearing replacement, gearbox servicing, welding and fabrication where applicable.
• Safety: Familiarity with permit-to-work, confined space procedures, LOTO, respiratory/hearing protection protocols.
• Physical & operational: Fit for manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces; able to work shift patterns; punctual and dependable.
• Communication: Basic English for reporting and safety briefings; teamwork and willingness to undertake further training.
