Overview: SGUG Shipping Line & Logistics, a Karachi-based sole proprietorship specializing in translation and localization for maritime, logistics, and commercial clients, seeks a management professional to oversee day-to-day operations and ensure delivery excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead operations: Manage project schedules, resource allocation, vendor and freelancer onboarding, and workload balancing to meet deadlines.
  • Quality assurance: Implement and monitor QA processes for translations, proofreading, and localization deliverables; ensure linguistic consistency and adherence to client-specific style guides.
  • Client and vendor relations: Serve as primary contact for client inquiries, prepare proposals and quotes, negotiate terms with vendors and freelancers, and maintain professional relationships.
  • Process improvement: Define and document standard operating procedures, identify bottlenecks, introduce productivity tools, and maintain documentation for recurring workflows.
  • Financial oversight: Prepare quotes, track budgets, manage invoicing, and control costs to protect margins.
Job Specification:
  • Must-have experience: Proven experience managing operations or projects within translation, localization, maritime, logistics, or related service industries (3 years).
  • Project management: Scheduling, resource planning, task prioritization, deadline management; PMP/PRINCE2 or project management/localization certifications are a plus.
  • Localization tools: Familiarity with CAT tools (SDL Trados, memoQ, OmegaT) and localization workflows; ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Languages: Excellent written and verbal English; competency in Urdu/Sindhi preferred.
  • Vendor management: Recruitment, contracting, performance monitoring, conflict resolution with freelance linguists and voice-over talent.
  • Financial skills: Basic financial literacy for quotes, budgets, invoicing, and cost control.
  • Software: MS Office, Google Workspace; project management tools such as Trello or Asana.
